JOIN APSA
The American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA) encompasses nearly all pediatric surgeons in the United States and more within North America and worldwide. APSA provides a community specific to the interests and needs of the pediatric surgeon and the affiliate professional in pediatric surgery, including CME, training and educational opportunities. We encourage all pediatric surgeons and affiliate professionals to apply for membership.

Completed applications are reviewed by the Membership & Credentials Committee and forwarded to the Board of Governors for final approval.

- Must be licensed in the US, US territories or Canada.
- Must be board eligible or board certified by relevant organization or board.

$125

To apply for Affiliate Membership, you must complete an application.
Regular Membership
Eligibility
- Must be licensed to practice medicine in the United States or Canada.
- Must be board eligible or board certified in pediatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery or by the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.
- Must have completed his/her training in an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-approved position or equivalent Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (RCSC)-approved program.
- Must have a practice devoted predominately to pediatric surgery, except as may be required by emergency care or special circumstance.
Dues
Annual member dues are $695.

Candidate Membership
Eligibility
- Must be currently licensed to practice medicine in the United States or Canada.
- Must be board eligible or board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery or the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.
- Matched or in Pediatric Surgery Fellowship in an ACGME- or RCSC-approved pediatric surgical fellowship.
An individual may remain a candidate member until December 31 of the year of fellowship completion. If candidate membership expires, one may still apply for regular membership at any time in the future. Candidate membership is not mandatory in order to qualify for regular membership.

Annual member dues are $75.

Associate Membership
Eligibility
- Must be licensed to practice medicine in the United States or Canada.
- Associate membership shall be extended to a person who has been predominately in the practice of pediatric surgery, except as may be required by emergency care or special circumstances.
- An applicant for Associate Membership may have a non-traditional training background.
Applications for this member type are evaluated on an individual basis.
Dues
Annual member dues are $695.

Resident Membership
Eligibility
Must be a general surgery resident in good standing in an ACGME- or RCSC-approved residency program or in a training position during or after completion of the residency, but not yet a fellow in an ACGME- or RCSC-approved pediatric surgery fellowship.
The term of membership will be for one year and will automatically expire after one year unless a written request for extension, accompanied by verification of continued enrollment, is submitted to APSA Headquarters.
Dues
There are no dues for Resident Membership.

Medical Student Membership
Eligibility
Must be a medical student in good standing in an accredited medical school in US or Canada.
The term of membership will be for one year and will automatically expire after one year unless a written request for extension, accompanied by verification of continued enrollment, is submitted to APSA Headquarters.

There are no dues for Medical Student Membership.

International Membership
Eligibility
Physicians who do not live or practice surgery within the Territory of the United States or Canada, and who do not otherwise meet criteria for regular membership, may apply for International Membership.

Annual member dues are based on geographic location.

- Include the country where you practice pediatric surgery so we can provide the appropriate application form and assess appropriate membership fees
Honorary Membership
Eligibility
- individuals who exemplify the highest achievements in the science, practice, and leadership of pediatric surgery.
- The selection of individuals is based on one or more of the following criteria:
- Leader of a national medical organization or institution
- Global reputation through participation in international pediatric surgical activities
- Recognized for their clinical and/or research discovery and scholarship
- Made a significant impact in pediatric surgical care through education or advocacy
- Likely to contribute to the programs and intellectual life of APSA
- Honorary members receive complimentary registration to the APSA annual meeting where they will be presented with a plaque.

No dues.
Application
To nominate an eminent individual for APSA Honorary Membership, submit an abbreviated curriculum vitae/biosketch and two sponsor letters to APSA staff by January 15.
- Nominees are not to be told they are being considered for Honorary Fellowship
- Nominators and sponsors are not provided status updates during the selection process.
