ECMO Course
Time: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

SPACE LIMITED – 42 max participants
This four-hour, hands-on simulation and case-based learning ECMO course is designed for pediatric surgical trainees, critical care trainees, and pediatric surgeons seeking concentrated, practical training in ECMO management. Space is limited. In-person only, virtual attendance is not available.
Pediatric Burn Care
Time: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Cocktail Reception: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

A collaboration between APSA and the American Burn Association, the goal is to improve care in the nation’s emergency departments and access to care for pediatric burn patients. We will address the gaps and challenges, disaster preparedness, and delve into specific topics and potential solutions. All pediatric surgeons, trainees, and APPs are welcome. In-person only, virtual attendance is not available.
Foundation Grant Writing Symposium
Time: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Cocktail Reception: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

All are welcome. Target audience – Senior fellows & post-doctoral trainees, first 1–5 years of faculty, early investigators considering a research track. Goals: lower barrier to mentorship conversations, enable follow-up connections after APSA, foster peer-to-peer support among early-career surgeons. In-person only, virtual attendance is not available.

All events listed below are by separate registration and not a part of the APSA program.
US-Canadian Pediatric Surgery Fellows Neonatal Minimally Invasive Course
May 9-10
- May 9 – Sheraton Riverwalk
- May 10 – simulation lab at Northwestern University
- Intended audience: accredited pediatric surgery junior fellows or single fellows.
- Saturday May 9th 3pm – 6 pm: interactive lectures at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk, after the conclusion of the APSA Annual meeting.
- Fellows/faculty dinner: at a local Chicago establishment Saturday night following the lectures.
- Sunday May 10th 7 am – 12:30 pm: High fidelity hands-on simulation lab at the Northwestern University Simulation, with tissue models for neonatal thoracoscopic lobectomy, thoracoscopic EA/TEF repair, and laparoscopic DA repair.
