Advancing Pediatric Surgical Care Through Service, Partnership, and Global Impact

APSA is committed to improving surgical care for children across the world. Through volunteerism, resource sharing, and coordinated global engagement, APSA members extend their expertise beyond their own institutions to support colleagues and communities in need.

The Global Pediatric Surgery Committee leads APSA’s efforts to expand safe surgical care for children worldwide. The committee builds partnerships, supports responsible international service, and strengthens training and research in resource‑limited settings.

Donate Your Loupes

APSA has partnered with Loupes Around the World making it easy for pediatric surgeons to donate their old loupes for recycling. Loupes are returned to the factory where they are adjusted for new users and personally delivered by surgeons traveling to the region. Headlights are welcome too! Loupes Around the World is a 501(c) 3 charitable organization, contributions to this organization are tax-deductible.

Surgical Disaster Relief

When disasters or humanitarian crises limit access to safe surgical care, pediatric surgeons help restore essential services. APSA’s Surgical Disaster Relief resources connect members with trusted organizations offering structured, responsible opportunities to volunteer in emergency settings.

Volunteer Abroad

APSA’s Volunteer Abroad resources connect pediatric surgeons with reputable global partners working to expand access to safe surgical care for children. Through platforms like InterSurgeon and collaborations with The American College of Surgeons, members can find structured, sustainable opportunities to share expertise, support capacity‑building, and contribute to long‑term improvements in pediatric surgery worldwide.
